Our ORR Stories

The Stories of Us

A company that has been around as long as we have has a lot of stories to tell. We have stories of where we came from – our roots and our history. We have stories of where we are now – our business and our values. And we have stories of where we are going – our goals for the future and the innovation that will get us there. But the most meaningful stories we have to tell are the stories of us – OUR ORR Stories.

The stories of us are the stories of the people who make up ORR Corporation. Our ORR Stories are penned to give you a glimpse into the heart of ORR – who we are and why we love to work here.

Life as an ORR Intern: The Louisville Experience

ORR Corp Intern

Although the majority of Louisville's students weren't attending classes this summer, the city was just as vibrant in June and July as it is during the school year. Music festivals, horse racing, and great restaurants are just a sampling of what you can expect from a summer in the city. During the past few months, the ORR Corporation hosted two students from Texas who had the opportunity to see what the Derby City is all about. Follow Gabe as he recounts his summer with ORR in Louisville:

"I recently finished my summer as an intern with ORR Safety and what a summer it was. In my previous post, I described my first impressions and what I had done around Louisville those first few weeks.

Now, at the end of the internship, I am happy to say that my first impressions did not change one bit. By the last few weeks with ORR, I was able to settle into a daily routine, which I honestly enjoyed more than school. I was able to shadow field salesmen during different calls they made while learning from their communication style. I met with various executives within the company who passed on priceless advice and knowledge that they had gained in their years of experience. I attended several meetings concerning budgets and others that were preparing the company for the end of their fourth quarter.

Outside of work, things were a bit calmer. My roommate and I found smaller attractions in and around Louisville. The highlight of these was “The Quarry” located north of the city. It is a huge quarry filled with water, and we spent a full day there exploring and relaxing. We also began visiting restaurants around town, especially within the Bardstown Road area. The food was great and there are too many restaurants to name. We found one of my favorites, Taqueria La Mexicana, during our last week as interns, located about 10 minutes up the Preston Highway from the ORR headquarters. It is a small taco place with the most authentic Mexican food I found in Louisville. For all you Texans or anyone else from further "South" venturing into Louisville, I highly recommend checking this place out.

I would like to thank everyone at the ORR Corporation for such a wonderful experience this summer. I recommend anyone looking for a summer internship to look into ORR. "

Thanks Gabe for a great summer! Best of luck to you and Dave as you finish out your college education!
